Will you be there? Dream Team Los Angeles Participates in National Dream Graduation

Across the nation, 65,000 undocumented students graduate from US high schools each year, according to the National Immigration Law Center. Approximately, 279,00 of them would qualify for the DREAM Act's provisions (Migrant Policy Institute). How many peers can you think of that graduated this year and cannot use their degrees? More than I can count.

On Tuesday June 23, 2009 United We Dream coalition members will be holding graduation ceremonies from coast to coast. The main event will be in Washington D.C., with solidarity events taking place all across the country. These symbolic events will give us a visual on how much talent and contributions we are missing out on because of a broken immigration system.

In Los Angeles, we will be hosting our very own Mock Graduation, followed by a call-in action. Please forward on to any media contacts you may have. FREE T-Shirt for participants! Join us for this important and historical event! You don't want to miss it! In addition, we will be attending the Orange County Dream Team's Event later in the evening.

Hi.

I'm a journalist and I'm working on an article about the Dream Act for a Web site that is to be launched this summer by The State of the USA (http://www.stateoftheusa.org/).

I think it's really important to personalize the story by showing the struggle undocumented students have and the need for the Dream Act. I was wondering if you would be available to talk with me over the phone about your struggles. I've talked to my editor and I'd only use your first name in the article in order to protect your identity.

Like I said, I think this is an extremely important part of the story in order for people to understand the problems undocumented students face. If you are interested or know of anyone who may be please contact me at jamolenaar@gmail.com or at 740-739-7217. I'd really, really appreciate your time. This is a story the American public really needs to know about.

Thanks,
